RADON
Radon is a
naturally occurring, colorless and odorless radioactive gas which is produced as
a result of radium decay. Concentrations vary from town to town.
Radon can enter
the home as a gas (cracks in the basement or sump pump channels are prime
conduits of radon gas) or can be present in one's well.
Concentrations of
radon are measured in units referred to as picocuries per liter(pCi/L). The
E.P.A. states that concentration of 4 pCi/L or greater in air and 5,000 pCi/L or
greater in water, should be treated. (check News and Information: EPA and DEP
Quality Guidelines Section for updates).
E.W.D. provides,
fast and convenient testing for radon along with written documentation and a
plan for removal if present.(check : Air and water treatment: Radon for details)
For
specific questions regarding radon or if you suspect your home may have
a radon problem, ask for Nancy Terenzo when calling E.W.D., at
